Linkpoche and Matter both let you save things to come back to, but they focus on different parts of the job. Matter is a reading app with an account that syncs across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and the web, with paid features for listening, newsletters, RSS, and AI reading help. Linkpoche is a free iPhone app with no account that saves links and sorts each one into a pouch with a swipe.

What is the main difference?

Matter centers on the reading itself: a read-later library, highlights, and a paid plan that adds text-to-speech and an AI Co-Reader. Linkpoche centers on the moment you save a link and the moment you find it again. It keeps each link’s address and preview, then brings links back through For you and a Home Screen widget.

Do I need an account?

For Matter, yes. Its App Store listing describes signing in with your email and a verification code, and your library syncs across your devices.

For Linkpoche, no. There is nothing to sign up for. Install it, tap Share in any app, and choose Linkpoche.

Where is my data stored?

Matter’s privacy policy says it stores data primarily in the United States and uses Amazon Web Services for hosting.

Linkpoche has no server. Your links and screenshots are stored on your iPhone. When you save a link, your iPhone fetches that page directly for its preview and article text, and the text is used for the read time and summary, then discarded. Screenshots are read on your iPhone and not uploaded. The Linkpoche app has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking.

Which devices does each one run on?

Matter has apps for iPhone, iPad, Mac with Apple silicon, and Apple Vision Pro, plus a web app and a browser extension. Its App Store listing requires iOS 26 or later on iPhone.

Linkpoche runs on iPhone only, with iOS 16 or later, and has no sync between devices. If your iPhone is on an older iOS version, that alone may decide it.

Which one is free?

Both have a free option. Matter’s free version includes a read-later library with no limit on saved items, saving from its extension, and unlimited tags. Text-to-speech, the AI Co-Reader, newsletter sync, RSS, and unlimited highlights are part of its paid plan. Matter’s pricing differs between its website and the App Store, so check its listing for the current price.

Linkpoche is free to download, and saving is free with no limit and no ads. Linkpoche Plus is an optional one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription, that adds locked and hidden pouches, more pouches, colors, and icons, and repeating reminders. On the US App Store as of October 2026, it is $2.99.

Can I import my Pocket export?

Linkpoche cannot. Its import reads only a backup zip exported from Linkpoche, so you bring links over by sharing them one at a time.

Matter has an Import Pocket option, but its pages do not say whether it reads an export file. Check with Matter if this matters to you.

  • Flick the top link down into a pouch. You can make up to 8 pouches free. They sit along the bottom, four to a row, and each can hold pouches inside.
  • Swipe left to delete, right for Read later. Undo stays up for 6 seconds.
  • Save screenshots too. Linkpoche reads their text on your iPhone, and search finds it.
  • Search everything you saved or one pouch, and filter by unread, read, or favorites. On iOS 17 or later, search also finds links close in meaning.
  • For you shows up to 10 links from your pouches each day. The Linkpoche widget shows them when your Inbox is empty, on iOS 17 or later.

Do both apps use AI?

Both have AI features, and they work differently. Matter’s AI Co-Reader is part of its paid plan.

Linkpoche uses Apple’s on-device model on iPhone 15 Pro or later with iOS 26 or later and Apple Intelligence turned on. Articles get a read time and a short summary marked AI summary, and Linkpoche can suggest a pouch for each link. Summaries may not be accurate. The AI runs on your iPhone, nothing is sent out for it, and each AI feature can be turned off.

Who is Matter a better fit for?

  • You read long articles and want highlights, listening, or AI help while reading.
  • You want newsletters and RSS feeds in the same place as your saved articles.
  • You read on iPad, Mac, or the web as well as your iPhone.
  • Your iPhone runs iOS 26 or later.

Who is Linkpoche a better fit for?

  • You want a quick place to drop links from any app and sort them later with a swipe.
  • You want no account and your links stored on your iPhone.
  • You want old links to come back on their own each day.
  • Your iPhone runs anything from iOS 16 up.

If reading inside the app is the main thing you want, Matter is built for that. If saving and sorting links on your phone is the main thing, Linkpoche is built for that.
