Looking for a Pocket alternative on iPhone?

Pocket shut down in 2025. This page covers who Linkpoche suits, who it does not, how to bring your links over, and which other apps to look at.

Download on the App Store

Mozilla shut down Pocket on July 8, 2025, and exports closed on October 8, 2025. Linkpoche is a free iPhone app that saves links and lets you sort each one into a pouch with a swipe, with no account. It cannot import a Pocket export, so you bring links over by sharing them one at a time; if you need sync across devices or a bulk import, one of the other apps on this page will suit you better.

What happened to Pocket?

Mozilla announced on its blog that Pocket would shut down on July 8, 2025. Users could export their saves until October 8, 2025, and Mozilla’s post says the data is permanently deleted after that date. If you did not export before the deadline, your Pocket list can no longer be recovered from Pocket.

If you did export, you have a file that some apps can import. Linkpoche is not one of them. The sections below explain what that means in practice.

Who is Linkpoche a good fit for?

Linkpoche fits if most of your saving happens on iPhone and you want a short path from “I’ll look at this later” to finding it again.

  • Saving takes one tap. Tap Share in any app and choose Linkpoche. The link is saved and the share sheet closes, so you stay where you were.
  • Sorting takes one swipe. Flick the top link down into a pouch. You can make up to 8 pouches free. They sit along the bottom within reach of your thumb, and each can hold pouches inside. Swipe left to delete, right for Read later.
  • Saved links come back. For you shows up to 10 links from your pouches each day, and the Linkpoche widget shows them when your Inbox is empty, on iOS 17 or later. On iOS 17 or later, search also finds links close in meaning.
  • No account. There is no sign-up and no Linkpoche server. Your links are stored on your iPhone, and the app has no analytics, no ads, and no tracking.
  • Free to save. Free to download, and saving is free with no limit. Linkpoche Plus is an optional one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription.

Who should pick something else?

Linkpoche is a narrow app on purpose, so it will not replace Pocket for everyone. Look at another app if any of these matter to you:

  • You read on more than one device. Linkpoche runs on iPhone only (iOS 16 or later) and has no sync between devices.
  • You want your Pocket export back in one step. Linkpoche’s import reads only a backup zip exported from Linkpoche.
  • You read saved pages offline. Linkpoche keeps the address and preview, not a copy of the page, so opening a link needs a connection.
  • You save pages behind a login. Linkpoche never signs in to other sites, so those pages give little preview. The link is still saved and opens.

There is no bulk import, so you move links by hand:

  1. Install Linkpoche from the App Store.
  2. Open a link you want to keep, in Safari or any other app. If you exported from Pocket, your export file lists the addresses.
  3. Tap Share and choose Linkpoche. Linkpoche fetches the page’s title, picture, and description on your iPhone.
  4. Open Linkpoche and flick the link into a pouch, or swipe right for Read later.

This works well for the dozens of links you actually return to. If your export holds hundreds or thousands of links and you want all of them, an app that imports Pocket exports will save you a lot of time.

What other Pocket alternatives are there?

Each of these has strengths Linkpoche does not. The facts below come from each app’s official pages, checked on October 5, 2026.

  • Raindrop.io runs on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, the web, and browser extensions, and syncs across them with an account. It imports a Pocket HTML export, and its free plan has unlimited bookmarks and collections.
  • Instapaper runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, and the web, and a free account includes sync and folders. It can import a Pocket export file, and its swipe actions can archive a link or move it to a folder.
  • GoodLinks runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with no account, and syncs through your own iCloud. It is a paid one-time purchase and has a Pocket import.
  • Matter is a reading app for iPhone, iPad, Mac (Apple silicon), and the web, with an account. It has a free version and a paid plan with listening and AI reading features. Matter has an Import Pocket option, but its pages do not say whether it reads an export file.

Prices are in the comparison table on each app’s page and reflect the US App Store in October 2026.

Is Linkpoche free?

Linkpoche is free to download, and saving is free with no limit, no ads, and no account. Linkpoche Plus is an optional one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. It adds locked and hidden pouches, up to 24 pouches, every color and 12 patterns, photos and 16 new icons for pouches, and reminders that repeat on the days you choose. On the US App Store as of October 2026, it is $2.99.

Your links and screenshots are stored on your iPhone. When you save a link, your iPhone fetches that page directly for its preview; the article text is used for the read time and summary, then discarded. To back up, export everything as one zip file. Import adds links from a backup and never overwrites. To move to a new iPhone, export and import, or use your iPhone backup.
